Day 1 - Arrive Boston
Welcome to Boston. You’ll be met on arrival at the airport and transferred to your hotel. There’s time to settle in and relax before meeting with your Tour Director and fellow guests during dinner. You’ll discover Boston’s acclaimed culinary scene at a local restaurant this evening.
Day 2 - Boston
After breakfast this morning, join a sightseeing tour of Boston. This historic city is one of America’s oldest and played a key role in the American revolution. Today, it is known for its strong links to sport, history, music and cuisine. Along with a proud Irish heritage, Boston boasts many impressive landmarks for you to explore. After your tour, enjoy an afternoon at leisure to make your own discoveries. Perhaps you might like to dine at a local restaurant this evening.
Day 3 - Boston, Cape Cod
Board a ferry from Boston to Provincetown, a coastal town on the tip of Cape Cod. From here, enjoy the day exploring this eastern peninsula before arriving at Sea Crest for your overnight stay at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel. The hotel’s very early beginnings were as a summer house, hosting aspiring actors including Henry Fonda and Jimmy Stewart before it was destroyed by fire.
Day 4 - Cape Cod, Philadelphia
Journey to Philadelphia via Newport, where you’ll visit a pocket of beautifully preserved historic mansions including The Breakers. Tracing America’s development from the colonial era to the Gilded Age, each mansion has its own unique style, from Italianate to Gothic Revival. They offer a fascinating glimpse into the lavish lifestyles of their past owners. Later arrive in Philadelphia.
Day 5 - Philadelphia, Lancaster
Today’s tour of Philadelphia or ‘Philly’ unpacks a treasure trove of early American history. Known as the birthplace of a nation, you’ll visit the city’s iconic sights. These include Independence Hall, where the United States Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were both ultimately adopted. Later, continue to Lancaster County, home to the religious Amish and Mennonite communities. During your stay, you’ll have the chance to gain an understanding of their everyday lives.
Day 6 - Lancaster, Washington DC
This morning, on a tour of local Amish communities, you’ll gain an insight into their culture, faith and way of life, where communities embrace a slower paced more traditional approach. Journey to Washington DC, and take in the sights on a tour, including the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and FBI Headquarters, before dinner in the city.
Day 7 - Washington DC
You have the entire day today to spend how you wish. How will you spend your time? Aside from Washington DC’s historical and political landscape, there’s a wealth of museums, art and culture to discover. Perhaps explore some of the Smithsonian Institution’s extensive collection of museums, galleries, gardens and a zoo, many of which line the city’s famous National Mall. They showcase America’s journey through subjects as diverse as space, natural history and art.
Day 8 - Washington DC, New York
Arrive in arguably the world’s most famous city today. Settle in and explore New York from the convenience of The Marriott Marquis Hotel, located right in the heart of the Big Apple.
Day 9 - New York
After a special breakfast, enjoy an exciting sightseeing tour of the city, which ensures you’ll cover the Big Apple’s many highlights, from Central Park to Times Square. Of course no visit to New York would be complete without a visit to the city’s iconic Empire State Building. Completed in 1931, during the Great Depression era, this art deco-style landmark remained New York’s tallest building for some 40 years. This afternoon, enjoy time to make your own discoveries. You might choose to head for one of the city’s museums, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) with its world-famous art collection or the American Museum of Natural History. Alternatively, you may prefer to take a ferry ride to Liberty Island, home to America’s archetypal monument, the Statue of Liberty, or perhaps enjoy some retail therapy at Macy’s Herald Square, one of the world’s largest department stores. Tonight, it’s time to relax and reflect over a Farewell Dinner at your hotel.
Day 10 - New York
Your tour concludes after breakfast with a transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
