Day 1 - Arrive Quito
At the conclusion of your escorted journey, fly from Lima to Quito, Ecuador’s capital. Transfer to your hotel and enjoy an evening at leisure.
Day 2 - Quito
Begin today with a guided tour that includes the city’s Old Town.
Day 3 - Quito, Galapagos Islands (Baltra and Santa Cruz islands)
Fly to Baltra Island in the Galapagos archipelago and learn about the region’s unique biodiversity as you’re driven to the Itabaca Channel before taking a ferry to Santa Cruz Island. After lunch at a local restaurant, discover the islands’ iconic Galapagos giant tortoises in their own habitat at a nearby reserve. You can also explore several vast lava tunnels before heading to Puerto Ayora to board Yacht Isabela II, your premium home for the next four nights.
Day 4 - Galapagos Islands (Santiago Island, Chinese Hat Islet)
This morning you’ll land on the black sand of Santiago Island’s Puerto Egas before setting off on a trail to explore the island’s rich wildlife. Come face to face with land and sea iguanas, a variety of unique marine bird species, and a colony of fur seals among other wildlife as you weave through the remarkable volcanic landscape. Later, journey to Chinese Hat Islet to enjoy the afternoon seeing more of the region’s wildlife. You’ll also have the chance to swim or snorkel to reveal the world below the surface as you admire marine life including white-tipped reef sharks and Galapagos penguins.
Day 5 - Galapagos Islands (Genovesa Island)
Begin another exciting day with a panga (a Zodiac-like boat) ride along the cliffs of Genovesa Island, which is commonly known as Bird Island. Discover why after landing and walking up Prince Philip’s Steps to a trail which winds past large colonies of Nazca boobies, red-footed boobies, great frigate birds, storm petrels, and perhaps the short-eared owl. You can also choose to remain on the panga for a longer ride along the coastline, while kayaking and snorkelling opportunities are also available. Following lunch, land at Darwin Bay, to discover more of the island’s famous avian residents including herons, finches and mockingbirds.
Day 6 - Galapagos Islands (Genovesa Santa Fe and South Plaza islands)
Journey to the bright beaches of Santa Fe Island for a nature walk to view sea lions, Galapagos hawks and iguanas before enjoying an opportunity to snorkel or swim along a natural wave barrier or gaze into spectacular underwater scenery aboard a glass-bottom boat. After lunch, head to picturesque South Plaza Island. Land and explore the island’s contrasting landscapes, observing yellow-grey land iguanas as they gather among prickly pear cacti, discovering more sea lion colonies and admiring various birds including swallow-tailed gulls and shearwaters.
Day 7 - Galapagos Islands (Baltra Island), Guayaquil
Your Galapagos journey comes to an end today at Baltra Island. Set off to view tortoises in the wild then be transferred to Baltra airport and fly to Guayaquil, Ecuador’s second largest city.
Day 8 - Depart Guayaquil
Transfer to Guayaquil airport for your onward flight.
