Day 1 - Cape Town

Welcome to South Africa. Begin your journey in vibrant Cape Town, a city framed by rugged mountains and shimmering ocean. Check into your luxurious three-night Scenic Special Stay, known for its pink exterior and refined colonial charm. This evening, meet your fellow guests over a welcome dinner and toast to the journey ahead.

Day 2 - Cape Town

Journey along the breathtaking Atlantic coast, passing dramatic sea cliffs and charming seaside towns, en route to Cape Point, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet in a spectacular clash of currents. Stop at the historic Cape of Good Hope, steeped in maritime legend, and visit the enchanting Boulders Beach, home to a playful colony of African penguins nestled among the granite boulders.

Day 3 - Cape Point

Rise to sweeping views of Table Mountain before ascending to its summit on a rotating gondola, soaking in panoramic scenes of the city, Atlantic coastline, and surrounding mountain ranges. At the top, take in the crisp alpine air and the dramatic contrast of rugged cliffs against the sparkling sea - a breathtaking introduction to Cape Town’s natural splendour.

Day 4 - Cape Town > Kruger National Park (Thornybush Game Reserve)

Fly to Hoedspruit and transfer to Thornybush Private Game Reserve for a three-night Scenic Special Stay. This afternoon, set off on your first exhilarating game drive, keeping watch for the iconic Big Five.

Day 5 - Kruger National Park (Thornybush Game Reserve)

Day 6 - Kruger National Park (Thornybush Game Reserve)

Day 7 - Kruger National Park (Thornybush Game Reserve) > Johannesburg

Fly to Johannesburg, South Africa’s largest city and economic powerhouse. Known as the ‘City of Gold’, thanks to the discovery of the precious metal in 1886, Johannesburg is South Africa's largest city, and a vibrant hub of art, culture and history. Settle in for an overnight stay at your hotel in the heart of Pretoria.

Day 8 - Johannesburg > Rovos Rail

Board the elegant Rovos Rail and settle into refined comfort as you begin your journey north. Watch the landscape unfold outside your window, passing through the mineral-rich spa town of Warmbaths before crossing the iconic Tropic of Capricorn, marking your entrance into a new climatic zone and an unforgettable chapter of your African adventure.

Day 9 - Rovos Rail

Relax in luxury aboard Rovos Rail as you glide through Zimbabwe’s vast, baobab-studded landscapes. Take in the changing scenery from your elegant carriage and watch as the train passes through Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s second-largest city, rich in colonial history and vibrant culture.

Day 10 - Rovos Rail > Hwange National Park

Journey through one of the longest uninterrupted stretches of track in the world, traversing vast open landscapes before arriving at the edge of Hwange National Park — Zimbabwe’s largest and most diverse wildlife reserve. This afternoon, set out on a game drive in The Hide, a renowned private concession known for its abundant wildlife and intimate safari experience, offering exceptional sightings of elephants, big cats, and more.

Day 11 - Victoria Falls

Arrive at the majestic Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, and settle into your elegant colonial-style hotel for a three-night Scenic Special Stay. Just moments from the cascades, your stay offers front-row views of the ever-present mist rising above the gorge.

Take in the full force of Victoria Falls from the Zimbabwean side this morning, with sweeping views of the thunderous cascade.

This evening, indulge in a traditional boma dinner offering local cuisine and energetic dance performances, followed by an interactive drumming experience.

Day 12 - Chobe National Park

Cross into Botswana for a full-day safari adventure in Chobe National Park, renowned for its remarkable concentration of wildlife. Begin with a leisurely cruise along the Chobe River, where you may spot massive herds of elephants wading through the shallows, as well as hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife. Then venture inland on a thrilling open-vehicle game drive, exploring the park’s diverse landscapes in search of lions, buffalo and more.

Day 14 - Victoria Falls > Nairobi

Take to the skies on an optional helicopter flight for a breathtaking bird’s-eye view of Victoria Falls, soaring over the thunderous cascades and lush gorge below (additional expense). Later, fly to Nairobi, Kenya’s bustling capital, and settle in for a relaxing two-night Scenic Special Stay.

Day 15 - Nairobi

Visit the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage to meet rescued elephants, then enjoy a leisurely lunch at the tranquil Karen Blixen Coffee Garden, followed by a visit to the Giraffe Centre, where you can get up close to these graceful giants and learn about their conservation.

Day 16 - Nairobi > Masai Mara Reserve

Transfer to Wilson Airport for your flight to the world-famous Masai Mara. Soar above Kenya’s sweeping landscapes on a breathtaking scenic flight before landing in the renowned game reserve, home to the Big Five and the epicentre of the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest and zebras cross the plains. Day 17 - Masai Mara Game Reserve

Day 18 - Masai Mara > Serengeti National Park

Fly into Tanzania and arrive in the iconic Serengeti, a vast landscape rich with wildlife. This afternoon, enjoy a thrilling game drive across the endless plains, spotting giraffes, lions, wildebeest, and more. Afterwards, settle into your luxury camp and unwind amid the stunning African scenery.

Day 19 - Serengeti National Park

Spend the days exploring the iconic Serengeti National Park, where vast plains stretch to the horizon and wildlife roams freely across diverse habitats. 

Day 20 - Serengeti National Park

For a breathtaking start to the day, you may choose to soar over the savannah on an optional sunrise hot air balloon flight (additional expense).

Day 21 - Serengeti > Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Journey by 4WD to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping en route at the remarkable Olduvai Gorge, one of the world’s most important paleoanthropological sites and often called the Cradle of Mankind. Continue to your lodge set near the rim of the vast Ngorongoro Crater, where you’ll spend two nights surrounded by breathtaking highland scenery.

Day 22 - Ngorongoro Crater

Today, descend 610 metres into the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site. Encircled by steep walls, this natural sanctuary is a haven for wildlife, with landscapes that range from dense forests and open savannahs to swaying grasslands and a shimmering soda lake at its centre. As you explore the crater floor, keep your eyes peeled for a rich array of animals, including elephants, prides of lions, endangered black rhinos, and an astonishing variety of birdlife.

Day 23 - Ngorongoro > Nairobi

After breakfast, transfer to Arusha and board your flight to Nairobi, where your extraordinary African journey comes to an end bring home with you memories to last a lifetime.
