Day 1 - Reykjavik

Welcome to Reykjavík, the world’s northernmost capital city. Your journey into wonder begins with a two-night stay in Iceland’s quirky and creative heart.

Over the next eight days, you will explore Iceland most famous sights on a handcrafted land journey. Relax in your hotel and toast to the start of your immersive tour across this fascinating island.

Day 2 - Reykjavik

Reykjavík has something for everyone – enlightening museums, gourmet restaurants, creative architecture and a vibrant nightlife, all set within the spellbinding landscape of snow-capped mountains and cerulean seas.

Explore the city’s hidden jewels on an informative walking tour. Start amidst the stunning architecture of Harpa Concert Hall and the enchanting Sólarið Sculpture. Along the way, your expert guide will weave a tapestry of tales to entertain and enlighten you.

This evening, join your fellow travellers for a welcome dinner.

Day 3 - Reykjavík > Kirkjubæjarklaustur

Leave the vibrant capital behind today and embark on a captivating exploration of Iceland's enchanting south coast. Enjoy a horse show at a picturesque stable where Icelandic horses demonstrate their unique gaits. After refreshments, visit the ancient Caves of Hella, man-made caves believed to be Iceland's oldest archaeological remains. Learn about the caves' fascinating history, then sample Icelandic whisky, local beer and delicacies.

The coastal journey continues this afternoon with stops at renowned waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss, showcasing Iceland’s legendary natural beauty.

Day 4 - Kirkjubæjarklaustur

Embark on a thrilling experience today as you board an amphibian vessel at Jökulsárlón, a glacial lagoon offering an up-close encounter with majestic icebergs and the chance to taste 1,000-year-old ice. Look out for playful seals splashing in the frigid waters. The journey concludes on one of the lagoon’s black sand beaches, which are dotted with massive blocks of ice, earning them the nickname Diamond Beach.

Day 5 - Kirkjubæjarklaustur > Golden Circle

Set out on a sensory feast along Iceland's captivating south coast, marvelling at dramatic landscapes, steep canyons, meandering rivers and ancient volcanic lava fields. Take a leisurely stroll on Reynisfjara, a world-famous black sand beach, to admire the Reynisdrangar rock formation of dramatic basalt columns rising from the sea. You may also spot charming Icelandic puffins

Explore the southernmost town of Vík and indulge in the flavours of Iceland at a local brewery with a tasting of exquisite craft beers.

Day 6 - Golden Circle

Enjoy an unforgettable journey around Iceland's legendary Golden Circle. Start in Thingvellir, the place where Iceland's nationhood was established in the mid 19th century against a backdrop of breathtaking scenery. Continue to Gullfoss, the iconic 'Golden Waterfall,' renowned for its captivating cascade and photogenic allure. Be awed as 100,000 litres of glacial water plummet 31 meters into the Gullfossgljúfur canyon every second.

Conclude your day at Haukadalur, a geothermal wonderland where active geysers display explosive eruptions. The mighty Strokkur geyser has reliable eruptions every eight to 10 minutes, reaching heights of up to 30 metres.

Day 7 - Golden Circle > Reykjavik / Sky Lagoon

Return to Iceland’s lively capital for a one-night Special Stay in the heart of Reykjavik.   

This evening, join your fellow travellers for a farewell dinner that pays homage to Iceland’s culture and traditions.

Day 8 - Reykjavík, Iceland

This morning you will be escorted to your 6-star ultra-luxury Discovery Yacht, where the next stage of your journey begins. Upon boarding, be warmly greeted by Scenic Eclipse’s world-class crew and raise a glass of champagne with fellow guests on the Observation Deck as you sail along the Icelandic rugged coastline.

Day 9 - Grundafjordur

Perched on the breathtaking northern coast of Iceland's Snaefellsnes peninsula, the charming village of Grundafjörður invites you to discover its natural wonders. Towering above the town, the iconic Kirkjufell mountain creates an unforgettable backdrop, perfect for photographers and adventurers alike.

Explore the magic of the Snaefellsnes peninsula, often called "Iceland in miniature" for its unparalleled beauty. At its heart stands the legendary Snaefellsjökull volcano, the inspiration behind Jules Verne’s Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Day 10 - Patreksfjörður > Dynjandivogur Waterfall

Known as the fjord of adventures, Patreksfjörður is the largest town along the southern part of the Wesrfjords region. See millions of seabirds nesting on the dramatic Látrabjarg bird cliffs. Walk along its spectacular beaches, where the sand ranges from powder white to rich gold.

Weather permitting, this afternoon you will visit the jewel of the Westfjords, Dynjandi Waterfall. Feel the cold mist on your face as you admire the cascading bridal veil falls and discover why it was nicknamed ‘the thunder’. Tumbling down seven tiers over 100 metres, it is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland.

Látrabjarg Cliff & Hnjótur Museum: Visit Europe's largest bird cliff, Látrabjarg, and witness incredible bird life, including puffins. Enjoy breathtaking views and photography opportunities. Stop at Hnjótur Museum to learn about the local history and rescue efforts for stranded fishermen.

Raudasandur Beach Hike (led by Discovery Team): Discover Rauðasandur Beach, renowned for its red sands, after a 2.7-kilometer hike from Patreksfjörður. This tranquil spot in Iceland's Westfjords offers stunning contrasts of red sands, blue sea, and dark cliffs.

Day 11 - Vigur Island

Welcome to Vigur Island, a tranquil oasis where time seems to stand still. This private island is a wildlife sanctuary and protects an enormous colony of birds, including puffins, Arctic terns, eider ducks, black guillemots and razorbills, many of which you can appreciate from a distance on a guided tour.

Explore this remote sanctuary, dotted with charming houses and lush landscapes, and take in panoramic views of the surrounding fjords. The island is home to the smallest post office in Europe and you can sample a traditional hjónabandssæla cake at the small cafe.

Day 12 - Sauðárkrókur

The friendly town of Sauðárkrókur is located in a fertile valley along the south-western shore of Skagafjörður Fjord. Although Sauðárkrókur was officially settled in 1871, it is linked to history dating back to the ancient Grettir’s Saga of the 13th century. It’s the largest town in northwest Iceland, though is home to just over 2,500 people. The charming downtown will welcome you as you stroll through the small collection of distinctive, traditional buildings where the past seems to be brought back to life.

A true culinary journey awaits every day on board with up to 10 extraordinary all-inclusive dining   experiences and nine bars and lounges. As dusk falls, choose between steak and seafood at Elements, channel the spirit of Asia at Koko’s or journey to France at Lumière.

Day 13 - Akureyri

Akureyri is the country’s second largest settlement after Reykjavik, but with only around 20,000 residents it still feels like a friendly small town. Though it sits just 60km below the Arctic Circle, the climate is pleasantly mild and picturesque, with colourful homes set on green hills at the base of a volcanic mountain chain.

See the striking Akureyri Church and stroll through one of the world’s most northerly botanic gardens, home to endemic Icelandic flora and hardy foreign species. Keep an eye out for the elves and hidden people that are said to dwell in the town.

Day 14 - Grímsey Island

Grímsey is a small island north of the Icelandic mainland, home to only 100 people and one million seabirds. Nesting on the high cliffs that surround the whole island, the chatter of seabirds here is constant, especially during the 24 hours of sunshine in summer. This grassy outcrop straddles the Arctic Circle, making it one of the few places on earth where you can cross the Arctic Circle on foot – truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Your Discovery Yacht will set sail just after lunchtime to across the Arctic Circle on your way to Vopnafjörður.

Day 15 - Vopnafjörður > Seyðisfjörður

Vopnafjörður is a hidden gem along Iceland's stunning eastern coast. It’s long been a busy trading port and is still a flourishing village, home to around 600 people. Many people with Icelandic heritage can trace their history here as it was the largest emigration point for North America in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The highlight here is the sprawling, pristine fjordlands that wind along the coast. Embark on outdoor experiences like hiking and birdwatching in the surrounding mountains, offering a true taste of Icelandic wilderness.

Day 16 - Seyðisfjörður

In a country with an abundance of natural drama, Seyðisfjörður may steal the show. Set at the mouth of a beautiful fjord, this is East Iceland’s heart of culture, heritage and hospitality – and then there’s the architecture. The centre of town is known for 19th-century timber houses perched on the side of the lagoon, built by fisherfolk when the region was booming.

There’s plenty of culture to go with the small-town country charm, complemented by plentiful wildlife, including reindeer and porpoises drawn by the verdant setting of cascading waterfalls and snow-capped mountains.

History and Heritage Walk: Visit Fjörður's archaeological site and stroll through the town's historic district. Enjoy refreshments at Skaftfell Bistro and explore the Technical Museum. 
Nature walk Skalanes: Explore an archaeological site and Skálanes nature center, spotting diverse wildlife. Enjoy scenic views and local refreshments.

RIB Boat Tour - Discover Seyðisfjörður by RIB boat, with wildlife sightings and local stories.

Day 17 - Heimaey

The earth is always rumbling beneath Iceland. Today, you’ll see a perfect example of nature’s ability to both create and destroy. When the volcano Eldfell, meaning ‘Hill of Fire’, erupted here in 1973, parts of the island were covered in lava and ash, sealing them in a virtual time capsule. Walking through the town, you’ll be able to see signs of the eruption and fallout.

Keep your eyes open for our black and white friends, with more Atlantic puffins nesting here than anywhere else in the world.

This is your final day on board your Discovery Yacht, so take the time to return to your favourite spots. That might mean one last treatment# in the luxurious Senses Spa or stretching out in a class at the PURE: Yoga & Pilates Studio.

Day 18 - Reykjavik

Today you will return to Reykjavik. This is a city that never disappoints – a busy, buzzy capital with a creative soul, wild nightlife and a population of cool, quirky Reykvíkingurs. Choose to stay longer to explore its stylish restaurants, chic boutiques, innovative galleries and fascinating museums.

After one final breakfast on board, you’ll disembark your ultra-luxury Discovery Yacht. Farewell the crew and your fellow guests, taking with you a memories of an unforgettable voyage. 

Please book your flight to depart out of Reykjavik after 12:00 PM.
