Sal Salis FAQ – What You Need to Know


Where is Sal Salis located?
On Western Australia’s North West Cape, inside Cape Range National Park – about 1 hour (70km) from Exmouth.
How do I get there?
Fly with Qantas to Exmouth (Learmonth Airport) daily. From there, transfer by pre-booked car (additional cost), or self-drive – 90 mins from the airport or 1 hour from Exmouth town. Driving from Perth takes approx. 13 hours (1,330km).
What’s included in my stay?
All-inclusive chef-prepared meals, drinks, and guided activities like snorkelling, kayaking, paddleboarding, and gorge walks.
What can I do at Sal Salis?
Explore the reef with guided snorkels, sea kayaking, and wildlife spotting. Gorge walks in Cape Range reveal stunning views. Activities are small-group, guided daily based on weather – no need to pre-book.
What costs extra?
Swim with whale sharks (Mar–Aug) or humpbacks (Jul–Oct) – full-day tours must be pre-booked. Other options include Yardie Creek cruises or glass-bottom boat tours (ideal for self-drivers).

Can Sal Salis cater for dietary needs?
Yes. Please advise before arrival.
Is there phone reception or Wi-Fi?
No. Telstra offers brief coverage outside town, but there’s no reception or Wi-Fi at camp. For emergencies, friends/family can call +61 (0)8 9949 4173.
Is there power at camp?
Tents have lighting and USB chargers. No power points in tents; laptops and cameras can be charged in the main lodge. CPAP users should bring a travel battery and contact Sal Salis in advance.
Can children stay?
Yes, for children aged 10+ only.
Are pets allowed?
No pets or wildlife feeding permitted.
Water usage restrictions?
Each guest is allocated 20L per day for sustainability. We follow a 3-minute shower policy. Swimming in the ocean is a great way to start the day!
Can I smoke at Sal Salis?
Smoking is only allowed in designated beach areas with a closed ashtray. No smoking in tents, the lodge, or on tours.
Mobility & access
The terrain includes sand dunes and uneven paths, which may not be suitable for all. A solar buggy assists with check-in/out. Please contact Sal Salis to discuss any mobility needs before booking.
Tent occupancy
Each Wilderness Tent sleeps up to 3 guests (max 2 adults). Children aged 10–16 use swag bedding.
When should I book my whale/humpback swim?
If staying 3 nights or less, book your swim before or after your stay to enjoy more time at camp. For 4+ night stays, a swim experience can be added during your stay.
