Day 1 - Arrive Brisbane, Embark the Spirit of the Outback

Upon arrival in Brisbane, join the Spirit of the Outback for your rail journey across Queensland's outback landscapes. Watch as the terrain transforms into golden plains and endless blue skies as your train glides along steel tracks, before indulging in a special welcome dinner in the onboard Tuckerbox Restaurant.

Day 2 - Longreach

Your train continues across ever-changing landscapes to Longreach. Savour breakfast and lunch on board and learn about the unique history and culture of this iconic outback town. Later this afternoon, arrive in Longreach and be transferred to Mitchell Grass Retreat, your glamping accommodation for the next two nights. With an enviable location in the heart of Outback Queensland, Mitchell Grass offers the best of both worlds: spectacular views of the surrounding bushland and a number of activities to make the most of your stay, as well as all the comforts of home including a luxury canvas tent with a private en suite, air conditioning and a private outdoor deck. This evening, savour a sumptuous dinner.

Day 3 - Longreach

Following your Signature Experience, visit Stockman’s Hall of Fame, a tribute to Australia’s pioneers and early pioneer days. Join a guided tour of the museum and gallery and learn about Australia’s heritage and history through the interactive exhibits. Afterwards, discover the origin story behind Australia's national airline Qantas through a visit to the Qantas Founders Museum. Learn about the evolution of Qantas through its display of replica aircrafts, genuine artefacts and interactive displays. This evening, a special dining experience awaits.

Signature Experience Drover's Breakfast Cruise

Start your morning with a leisurely breakfast cruise aboard the M.V. Longreach Explorer. Discover the stories behind the sacred Iningai Scar Trees along the banks of the mighty Thomson River, and how Longreach received its name. While on board, savour a light breakfast selection of fruit, pastries and other local delights.

Day 4 - Longreach, Toogunna Plains

Continue to Toogunna Plains this morning, stopping en route in the outback town of Windorah for lunch. This small, rural town is well-known for its sand hills which glow bright red under the sun. Later, arrive in Toogunna Plains, a fourth-generation family-owned sheep and cattle property that also serves as a deluxe outback farm stay. After time to settle in to your accommodation, enjoy a Signature Experience.

Day 5 - Toogunna Plains

Your day begins with a bespoke tour of your farm stay's sheep and cattle station, following your guide to the must-see highlights including abandoned homesteads, oil fields, shearing sheds and geological formations. After lunch, visit the Eromanga Natural History Museum for an intriguing Dinosaur Giants Tour. Here, you’ll meet Cooper, the largest dinosaur to have ever been found in Australia. Listen as expert guides share their in-depth knowledge of fossil hunting and what species of dinosaurs roamed the area. This evening, enjoy a unique Signature Experience.

Day 6 - Toogunna Plains, Roma

Travel deep into the heart of the Outback and uncover the raw beauty of Quilpie, home to the elusive boulder opal—‘The Jewel of the Outback.’ Here, a guided tour offers a rare insight into this captivating gemstone. Journey onward to Charleville and step into The Charleville Bilby Experience, where you’ll enter the nocturnal house to observe these endearing yet endangered marsupials in their nighttime habitat. Gain a deeper understanding of conservation efforts during an exclusive talk with a dedicated keeper. Day 7 - Roma

Enjoy a guided tour, gaining insight into the art of small-batch distilling, before toasting to your journey with a memorable farewell dinner.

Signature Experience – Roma Saleyards Tour

Delve deeper into Roma’s rich history on a guided tour with a local expert. Step inside the bustling Roma Saleyards on sale day for an extended visit, witnessing the energy of Australia’s largest cattle-selling hub. A highlight awaits at Mount Abundance, where you’ll enjoy a scenic picnic lunch while your eco-guide shares fascinating insights into the region’s native wildlife, from soaring wedge-tailed eagles to elusive black-striped wallabies.

Day 8 - Roma, Depart Brisbane
