Day 1: Arrive in Italy's Must-See Destination, Venice
Your trip to Italy starts today with one of the most beautiful cities in Italy, Venice! Arrive at the train station and hop on a boat taxi to reach your centrally located accommodation. After checking in, you can enjoy the rest of the day to soak up the atmosphere of the "floating city". There is so much to see and do in Venice, you'll be spoilt for choice but don't forget to sit somewhere with a drink and take in the city as it passes you by.
Day 2: Doge's Palace & St Mark's Basilica
With a small group and skip the line tickets, you will go on a guided tour of these two main monuments of Venice. During the tour, you'll hear the turbulent history of the Doge's Palace, built in the 15th century, from the Byzantine-Venetian Gothic style to a more contemporary Renaissance style. The masterpiece of Byzantine art is St Mark's Basilica, a witness of the powerful and rich city of Venice. You'll learn all about these monuments and then have the rest of the day free in Venice.
Day 3: Train to Florence & Uffizi Gallery
In the morning you'll bid farewell to Venice and transfer to Florence by train. After checking into your accommodation, you'll head out on a guided group tour of the Uffizi Gallery, famous for its outstanding collection of ancient sculptures and paintings that date from the Middle Ages to the Modern period. The gallery boasts an invaluable collection of ancient statues and busts from the Medici family that adorn the corridors, consisting of ancient Roman copies of lost Greek sculptures.
Day 4: Explore Pisa & Lucca
Today, you will visit the most beautiful cities of Tuscany, Pisa and Lucca. Pisa and Lucca are undoubtedly among the richest cities in the world for their architecture and history: they are unmissable destinations for those who want to go deep inside Tuscany and its artistic background. In Pisa, you'll visit the Leaning Tower, the Pisa Cathedral and the Pisa Baptistery. In Lucca, you'll explore the city by walking along its city walls and then enjoy a tasting of its Buccellato cheese.
Day 5: Travel to Rome & Explore the Vatican Museums
This morning, you'll leave Florence behind and travel to Rome by train. After checking into your hotel, you'll head out on a guided tour of the smallest city in the world, the Vatican City. With a guide, you'll visit the Vatican Museums. The museums are a labyrinth of artworks, guiding visitors through building after building; masterpiece after masterpiece. There are 70,000 artworks in the buildings, 20,000 of which can be seen in the museums.
Day 6: Discover Rome & the Colosseum
Today, you'll discover the majesty of the Colosseum, the most famous symbol of the eternal city, as well as several other monuments. Beginning at the Colosseum with your local guide, you'll explore the largest amphitheatre ever to be built. You'll then have a break for lunch before visiting the Trevi Fountain, the largest Baroque fountain in the city and the most beautiful one in the world. Afterwards, you'll continue to Piazza di Spagna and the magnificent Pantheon, a symbol of Rome.
Day 7: Train to Naples & Free Time
Today, you'll travel from Rome to Naples by train. Naples is a city famous for pizza, football, history and for Spaccanapoli - the street that cuts the historical centre in two halves. All around this red line, so many important monuments were built, the Monastery of Santa Chiara, the Chapel of San Severo where the Cristo Velato is kept and the Church of Gesù Nuovo. Walking up and down the streets that cross the historical centre is like reading the history of the city.
Day 8: Free Day in Naples
Today after breakfast, you'll have the entire day free to spend as you wish in Naples. Explore the city and its famous sights that surround the Spaccanapoli - the famous street that cuts the city in half. You can visit the 16th-century Church of Gesù Nuovo, the most important church built by the Jesuits in Naples, and the important 14th-century Monastery of Santa Chiara. Your hotel will be able to provide recommendations on the best things to see and do in Naples.
Day 9: Travel to Paestum via Mount Vesuvius & Pompeii
Today, you will travel from Naples to Paestum with stops along the way at Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii. With its 1,281-metre altitude, Mount Vesuvius dominates the Gulf of Naples. The climb of the crater will take you to the edges of the crater. You'll then move on to visit the Pompeii Archeological Park, which dates back over 2,000 years. The city dominated the valley around the Sarno River and was home to a population of Etruscans, Greeks and other Italic people before it was buried.
Day 10: Free Time at the Beach
This morning, you'll have the option to visit the Paestum Archaeological Site which was built in 600 BC to honour Poseidon. The three Greek temples dedicated to Athena, Hera and Poseidon are only a part of the city that can still be visited. The walls, the amphitheatre and the Agora complete this incredible site where history and nature are so perfectly combined. In the afternoon, you can relax at one of Paestum's beautiful sandy beaches and enjoy your final evening of the trip.
Day 11: Arrivederci!
Having visited all of Italy's must-see destinations, your private driver will collect you from your hotel and take you to the international airport of Naples where you can catch your departing flight.
