Frequently asked questions

Although many essentials are included such as breakfast, lunch, dinner, selected drinks, and even a traditional afternoon tea, Cunard cruises are not fully all inclusive as complimentary dining outside of the main restaurant is limited and most beverages aren’t included in the fare.

Main dining is based on the stateroom category booked, with Britannia guests seated at The Britannia Restaurant, while Britannia Club and Grill Suite guests each dine at exclusive restaurants. Refined pub meals at The Golden Lion, located on all four Queens, is also complimentary.

Breakfast in-room is available to all guests, plus a complimentary buffet for meals and snacks.

Guests that book cruises of seven nights or more on the Cunard Fare receive complimentary onboard spending money to put towards drinks packages, spa treatments, al fresco dining and more.

Selected drinks are included on a Cunard cruise – 24-hour tea, coffee, water and juice are available in the buffet, water is served with meals and coffee offered after dining. Staterooms also have self-serve tea and coffee. For guests staying in a Queens Grill Suite, a complimentary mini bar is filled with a choice of either spirits or two bottles of wine, plus soft drinks.

A Drinks Collection can be purchased ahead of departure via the My Cunard online portal. From Alcohol-Free and Premium Alcohol-Free packages to the Beverage and Premium Beverage Collections, there’s something for everyone — from specialty teas and coffees to soft drinks, juices, mocktails, smoothies, milkshakes, fine wines, champagne and craft cocktails.

Package prices vary by cruise itinerary number of nights, and each package includes drinks up to a certain value, so be sure to enquire with your travel agent for more details.

Yes, Cunard is a luxury cruise line. Rather than modern, contemporary luxury, Cunard stays true to its roots, offering the timeless elegance from a bygone era but with a contemporary edge for modern comforts at sea.

A large part of the luxurious experience is Cunard’s renowned White Star Service, delivered by an attentive crew and rooted in a long tradition of ocean travel dating back to its partnership with the White Star Line, where the guest is front and centre.

Attentive, white-glove traditions and linen-dressed tables create a relaxed sense of timeless luxury, and on Gala Evenings, main restaurants offer multi-course menus and a special opportunity to dress up in formal wear.

When staying in the higher-end suites, the luxury feel is particularly prevalent with exclusive dining rooms offering refined dining.

Yes — Cunard will apply gratuities as a daily service charge to your onboard account rather than including gratuities into the cost of your fare.

To cover dining and housekeeping, a hotel and dining service amount is applied and varies by stateroom category - approximately US$16.50 per person per night for Queens and Princess Grill Suites and US$14.50 per person per night for Britannia Staterooms.

Drinks and spa treatments have a 15% service charge added at the time of purchase – service charges are already covered if you have a drinks package.

All gratuities go directly to the crew and any additional tipping is entirely optional.

Britannia Club starts with accommodation. Guests staying in a Britannia Club Balcony Stateroom enjoy access to the exclusive Britannia Club Restaurant, with a dedicated table reserved for breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the cruise, bypassing the need to pre-book.

From fresh pastries, fruit and continental options at breakfast to gourmet five-course or à la carte dining at dinner, dishes are created exclusively for Britannia Club guests.

Complimentary room service dining is also included, with the exception of selected menu items.

Other Britannia Club Balcony perks include a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine on arrival and enhanced comforts over standard Britannia rooms such as a pillow menu, luxury toiletries, specialty tea and coffee-making facilities, and a private balcony to enjoy the views.

Wi Fi isn’t free on Cunard ships. To stay connected, two internet plans can be purchased via the My Cunard online portal once onboard: the Essential Internet plan, suitable for web browsing, emails and posting holiday photos to social media, or the Premium Internet plan, which also allows video sharing and streaming TV shows or films. Plans can be purchased by the day or for the entire voyage.

Guests can also use their mobile provider’s roaming service when close to shore, or the Telenor Maritime network at sea, with charges billed directly to their mobile account.

Wi Fi is only free when accessing the Cunard My Voyage digital planner from a compatible smartphone, tablet or laptop.

Yes, there are dedicated Britannia Inside and Britannia Oceanview single staterooms available to solo travellers to book on the single occupancy fare on the Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria and Queen Mary 2 ships.

The single staterooms are designed to be spacious enough for one traveller and offer all the amenities of the Britannia experience associated with the stateroom category. There’s also the option to travel in a double occupancy stateroom however a solo supplement will apply when booking.

Cunard doesn’t have an app however they do have the My Voyage digital planner accessible via your compatible smartphone, tablet or laptop to book shore experiences, spa treatments, make dinner reservations, pre-purchase beverage or Wi-Fi packages and more.

You won’t need to purchase an internet plan to access My Voyage – simply log in to the ship’s guest Wi-Fi.

Cunard’s Traditional Afternoon Tea is served daily onboard and is included in the cruise fare. Enjoy sandwiches, cakes and pastries at the Lido on Queen Elizabeth or Queen Victoria, or the Kings Court buffet on Queen Mary 2. Guests staying in a Queens Grill or Princess Grill Suite can also choose to take Afternoon Tea in the Princess Grill Restaurant or in the Grills Lounge onboard Queen Mary 2.

For an elevated experience, Cunard’s Champagne Afternoon Tea is available at an additional cost. This includes scones, patisserie specialties, a crisp glass of champagne, finger sandwiches and more, served in elegant venues onboard, including the Champagne Bar on Queen Mary 2. This special experience needs to be booked in advance – either before departure or once on board.
