Discover the city’s unique blend of culture, history and coastal charm, with options to visit attractions such as Crocosaurus Cove, the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory^, or the famous Mindil Beach Sunset Markets (seasonal). Alternatively, simply relax by the waterfront or pool and soak up the laid-back atmosphere before the adventure into the wilderness begins.
Depart Darwin and journey into the vast wetlands and ancient landscapes of Kakadu National Park. Along the way, take in the region’s abundant wildlife and changing scenery before arriving in this World Heritage-listed destination. Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre to gain insight into the park’s ecology and deep cultural significance, with opportunities to enhance the experience through an optional scenic flight or a visit to a local Aboriginal art centre. Later, explore the iconic Ubirr rock art site and climb to the lookout for a breathtaking sunset over the floodplains and Arnhem Land.
Today is dedicated to immersing in Kakadu’s extraordinary natural beauty and cultural heritage. Begin with an Indigenous-guided cultural cruise along the East Alligator River, offering a unique perspective on the region’s creation stories, wildlife and connection to Country. Continue exploring the Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) region, where ancient rock art galleries reveal stories dating back thousands of years. Walk through striking escarpments and billabongs, taking in sweeping views and gaining a deeper appreciation for this remarkable landscape.
Travel west toward Katherine, passing through rugged bushland and diverse ecosystems rich with native wildlife. Stop in the historic township of Pine Creek before continuing to Nitmiluk National Park. Here, embark on a scenic cruise through Katherine Gorge, where towering sandstone cliffs and tranquil waters create a truly awe-inspiring setting. The afternoon offers time to relax and unwind in Katherine, reflecting on the incredible landscapes and cultural experiences encountered so far.
Start the day with a refreshing visit to Katherine Hot Springs, followed by time at the Nitmiluk Cultural Centre to learn more about the traditions of the Jawoyn people. Continue to Edith Falls, where guests can enjoy a swim in a picturesque natural pool beneath cascading waterfalls. Later, return to Darwin with a stop along the way, arriving in the evening for a final night to relax, dine and reflect on the journey.
